To jog your memory,
In my very first blog post, I talked about the importance of exercise and how there were so many other ways to get moving besides going to the gym. In the following few blog posts, we talked about quite a number of things – mostly regarding how to navigate the world of exercise online, from the do’s and don’ts to ways you can protect yourself from the Internet’s dangers to the myths and facts.
Finally, the time has come, ladies and gentlemen. It’s time to get moving! In this blog post, I’ll be talking about all the ways you can get moving, and hopefully by the end of this blog, you’ll realize that exercise is not only good for you, it’s actually really enjoyable!
Let’s work it Out!
So without further ado, here are 5 types of exercise you can start with to meet the CDC recommendations from the American Heart Association and the HelpGuide.

- For all you nature lovers out there, this one’s for you. Like I’ve said time and time again, exercise does not have to be done at the gym. By walking or taking a hike for at least 30 minutes a day, not only are you getting your steps in, you also have the amazing opportunity of appreciating the beautiful world around you!
- Now for those who aren’t so much of the nature lovers, worry not. You don’t have to go outside to get moving. Go to your local mall or your favorite store, and get moving while browsing around! Just don’t get tempted by the wonderful smell of pretzels! (It’s difficult I know, but you can do it!)
- Here’s one that you probably didn’t think about. Skip the elevator. When you’re at work or at some sort of building that requires you to go past the first floor, use the stairs. Take the stairs whenever you can to get your heart rate up, and get your steps in.

- To make exercise more enjoyable, pair it with something you love. Want to catch up on that Netflix series you’ve been watching? Turn it on and get on the stationary bike or do some jumping jacks in front of the TV. If you love listening to music, kill two birds with one stone by dancing it out while doing chores!
- Exercise could also be the perfect time to socialize and catch up with friends. Invite your friends to go on a walk with you or take a Zumba class at the gym together! You’ll find it to be more fun and something to look forward to in your week. You could also have set up a little competition with your friends to see who gets the most minutes in.
Move, Move, Move!
Exercise at the gym, exercise at home, exercise outside, exercise by yourself, exercise with your friends. My point is: GET MOVING. The more you do it, the more you’ll realize that exercise is so rewarding, physically and even mentally!
